Sustainability

At Green Gnome Botanicals I am committed to making decisions with the environment in mind.

Here are a few things that I have in place:

NATURAL WAX

I truly believe that Coconut & Rapeseed wax is the most sustainable wax on the market.

Coconut & Rapeseed wax is also an amazing option for those looking for a vegan and eco-friendly way to enjoy candles. Not only is it 100% vegan, but it is also biodegradable and more sustainable than soy wax since it doesn't require deforestation to produce. Additionally, the cleaner burn of coconut & rapeseed wax is great - your candles will burn more consistently and last longer. All in all, it's a great choice for anyone looking for a more sustainable candle experience.

The rapeseed part of the wax blend comes from Germany which is close to home therefore helping to reduce our carbon footprint. The coconut comes from the Philippines where our manufacturer has implemented a programme to help local farmers in the Philippines develop sustainable farming practices, which is key to preserving our planet's natural resources and helping the local communities. It is important for me to work with companies that have a commitment to sustainability and an environmental responsibility.

FRAGRANCE OILS & ESSENTIAL OILS

My fragrances are made of high-quality, vegan and cruelty-free ingredients. All fragrance oils during manufacturing process are contained in glass bottles which I can then recycle or use again.

I do not use any oils that are contained in plastic bottles. Sustainability to me is not only in the ingredients themselves but in the production process too. It's  important to look at the entire lifecycle of a product - from the sourcing of materials right through to the production process and packaging.

SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

At Green Gnome Botanicals I am conscious of our environmental footprint and taking steps to reduce waste. I only have enough equipment for making very small batch products. I do not buy more than what I need. It also means that when I make a soap for example, I'm making only that soap and nothing else! It means that I am able to put so much time and attention into each product, ensuring that customers receive something truly unique and special.

I also try to live a sustainable lifestyle. I am not perfect, but at Green Gnome Botanicals I don't just create eco-friendly products and leave it there - I take those practices into my own lifestyle. I have written a few blogs to document my journey to living a more sustainable lifestyle and would love for you to give them a read! I hope they inspire you to think of small things you could do to help the planet. Each small thing collectively can make a huge difference.

BOXES

The boxes I use are from FSC certified sources and can be recycled, composted or reused. Reusing and recycling are both great ways to help reduce landfill waste and preserve natural resources.

PACKING CHIPS

I use packing chips for protecting your items in transit. They are actually reused from my supply deliveries! The packing chips can dissolved in warm water, or be reused again to protect fragile items. They can also be composted.

PAPER

The paper I use in your deliveries and to pack your items is 100% recyclable and compostable, so you can rest assured that your items are being packed and delivered in a sustainable way.

TAPE

You can leave the paper tape on your boxes to be recycled. This is a great way to help reduce waste as it can easily be recycled with the rest of the cardboard. Plus, you'll be helping to keep our beautiful planet healthy and clean.

CANDLE JARS

The amber jars are plastic free and can be reused or recycled. There are multiple reuses for our jars! You could use them to store Green Gnome Botanical Wax Melts, to store stationary, make-up brushes, or to grow a plant from seed and watch it grow.

I'm always looking for ways to reuse my glass jars and I would love for you to contact me with your ideas and tips for reusing yours!
